Los Angeles Brain Injury Attorney: Increase in TBI Awareness on People

Last February saw another star lost, with the passing of Ben Woolf due to head injuries. Woolf, who rose into prominence through his role in the television series “American Horror Story”, was hit in the head by a vehicle’s side mirror while crossing a street along Hollywood Boulevard. Woolf is just among many others whose lives had been irreversibly damaged, or worse, claimed, due to a traumatic brain injury. Increased Awareness In a 2014 study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, more people are becoming increasingly aware of the life-shattering effects of traumatic brain injuries, with a total number of emergency department visits rising to as much as 3.6 percent between 2006 and 2010. Moreover, there had been a 29.1 percent increase on the number of patients seeking treatment for brain injuries, which the researchers traced to two reasons: either there had been an actual increase of head injuries among patients.
