Last June 9, 2014, 8-year-old Sebastian Grewal died in a small plane crash at El Mirage Lake. His father Joshua Grewal filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), who employed the off-duty pilot who had been flying the plane.. With the assistance of attorneys, Joshua Grewal claims that the crashed plane’s pilot was negligent when he flew the plane, which caused the accident. The lawsuit also included charges against the LAFD for obstructing access to the recorded video footage. “... The lower-ranking employee was instructed by the higher-ranking employee to take actions that would ... (prevent) the video from being discovered or made known to ... authorities," the lawsuit says.
